Job Description:

The Volunteer Coordinator contributes to the success of Franco Festival 2026 by participating in the recruitment, organization, and supervision of the volunteer team. Their primary role is to ensure a positive experience for volunteers while making sure the festival’s various operational needs are met. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in team management, leadership, event coordination, and human relations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

A. Volunteer Recruitment

  • Participate in promoting volunteer opportunities.

  • Identify and recruit new volunteers from within the community.

  • Respond to inquiries from individuals interested in volunteering.

  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at retaining volunteers.

B. Coordination and Planning

  • Maintain up-to-date volunteer lists and availabilities.

  • Assist in preparing schedules and assigning roles.

  • Follow up on registrations and confirmations of attendance.

  • Collaborate with coordinators from different festival sectors to meet their volunteer staffing needs.

C. Communication and Volunteer Support

  • Communicate important information to volunteers before, during, and after the festival.

  • Answer questions and provide support to members of the volunteer team.

  • Assist with the welcoming, orientation, and onboarding of new volunteers.

  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and motivating environment.

D. Franco Festival Support

  • Maintain a presence on-site to support volunteers during the event.

  • Help resolve challenges related to schedules, assignments, or team needs.

  • Assist in distributing the necessary materials and gear to volunteers.

  • Contribute to volunteer recognition and appreciation activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Spoken and written French is mandatory.

  • Strong command of spoken and written English is highly desired.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

  • Positive leadership, team spirit, and the ability to motivate others.

  • Autonomy, initiative, and professionalism.

  • Experience in coordination, team management, customer service, or volunteering (an asset).

Commitment

  • Flexible availability based on the festival’s preparation and coordination needs.

  • Participation in coordination meetings as required.

  • Attendance during the Franco Festival is highly desired.
