The Centre d’Appui Familial
Details
At ACFA Régionale de Calgary, there is pride in collaborating with dynamic organizations that bring the local Francophone community to life. A valuable partner, the Centre d’Appui Familial, is regularly looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with daily tasks and during activities and events. Discover these opportunities below and get involved directly with them!
Volunteer Opportunities at the Centre d’Appui Familial
Les Copains de lecture (Reading Buddies) For teenagers and adults with a good command of reading in French. Come read with children from the Reading Club (beginner level) at the Centre d’Appui library. Volunteers will be paired with elementary school children to encourage reading. A short training session is provided!
Commitment: A series of 5 one-hour sessions during the autumn and winter seasons.
Support During Activities and Events For teenagers and adults fluent in French. Lend a helping hand during major times of the year (Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Canada Day, Halloween, Christmas), or participate in community support initiatives (Christmas baskets, Casino, etc.). Tasks include setup, material preparation, cleanup, and leading activities in French with children.
Commitment: Opportunities available throughout the year.
Library Support (Assistant Librarian) For teenagers and adults. Help the Centre d’Appui team by taking care of organizing resources (books, games, etc.) and performing various library management tasks.
Commitment: Opportunities available year-round.

All registrations are done directly with the Centre d’Appui Familial.
For new volunteers: A volunteer form must be filled out indicating interests and availability, then sent by email to info@cdafsa.ca. The team at the Centre will then make contact to validate the profile.

Rouleauville Guided Tours
Details

The ACFA Régionale de Calgary is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who want to get actively involved in developing its Rouleauville Guided Tours, Calgary’s historic former French quarter.
We are looking for curious, dynamic individuals who are interested in discovering or deepening their knowledge of local francophone history.
Worried you don’t know enough? Rest assured: comprehensive training will be provided to all our volunteers!
This training will help you easily acquire all the historical knowledge and guiding skills needed to confidently lead visitors, school groups, and the general public through this unique heritage trail.
This is a wonderful opportunity to:
-Discover the fascinating history of Rouleauville and the roots of Calgary’s francophone community;
-Develop new skills in communication, group leadership, and public history interpretation;
-Contribute concretely to the preservation and transmission of our local cultural heritage;
-Participate in a meaningful, community-driven, and highly rewarding collective project.
-No prior experience is required. Only your interest in heritage, history, and the francophone community matters!

Canada Day with ACFA Calgary
Details
Looking for a dynamic, festive, and meaningful way to celebrate Canada Day while supporting Calgary’s Francophone community? Join the ACFA team!
We are looking for 6 motivated volunteers to run our cultural area and game stations right in the heart of the festivities.
Event Details

Date: Wednesday, July 1, 2026

Location: Sien Lok Park (on Riverfront), Calgary
-
Main Role: Running fun atmosphere games in pairs (including a wheel of fortune and giant games) on the sides of our main tent.
Available Shifts and Schedules
You can choose to spend the whole day with us or give a few hours based on your availability:

Option 1: Full Day From 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM (includes equipment setup and breaks).

Option 2: Half Day – Morning Shift From 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM (meal provided at 1:30 PM).

Option 3: Half Day – Afternoon Shift From 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM (meal provided at 3:00 PM).

The ACFA régionale de Calgary, through its Bilingual Volunteers Calgary program, is partnering with the the Federation of Francophone African Communities of Calgary (FAF Calgary) for a major event.
We are looking for dynamic, bilingual volunteers to support the organization of their very first official launching ceremony. Come lend a helping hand to the community while enjoying a unique and enriching cultural experience!
